Holly Hunter is a well-known American actor, producer and director. Her name has been acknowledged for films such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles and The Incredibles. Her work has been recognized with numerous awards, like an Oscar for the film Piano. At a young age she began playing on stage for several Broadway or Off Broadway productions. It has always been her obsession. In fifth grade, she portrayed Helen Keller in an original show. The mumps that she contracted left her deaf and blind in one ear. However, she did not allow this hinder her progress as an actor. At college, she was a theatre student and then moved from Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania, to New York City in pursuit of her dream. Hunter had her Broadway debut following a chance encounter in the company of Beth Henley, a playwright. The two worked together for Broadway Crimes of the Heart. The first time she appeared in a film was following her move from Los Angeles. Since her time in Los Angeles she has appeared featured in a variety of television movies and series. Holly Hunter is a Hollywood Walk of Fame famous person and she has won Women in Film Lucy Award.
