Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet area situated in the West Island of Montreal is something you could call a "sleepy" location. The West Island, to those who have never heard of it, is a vast section that extends from Lachine all the way west. Amanda Brugel was born there, but her time there was short. Brugel was born in Courtice in the vicinity of Oshawa Ontario. She wanted to become professional, however due to her rapid increase in her height, she surpassed all of her dance friends. In an article published by Toronto Star, she revealed that in heels she was six feet and one inch tall. Once I had outgrown my male partners, I quit. Many former dancers turn to acting, and in the case of Brugel it was a nudge from a high school drama teacher who pushed her into the right direction. The teacher encouraged her to try out for roles in the school's production. After trying out it, she was cast as the main character in Anne of Green Gables. It was her turn to be awarded the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to study at York University's theatre Program and graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor in Fine Arts. For the last twenty years she has had her appearing in a variety of shows and films. The role she was most famous for was that of Rita (shown here) in The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel, the only Canadian for the Season 1 actors of the series and was only seen on occasion, was the only Canadian.
